Orissa Academy of Social Science & Integrated Studies (OASIS) has been set up by REEDS since 2007-08; Recognized by Govt. of Orissa and Affiliated Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar and Approved Study Centre of Fakir Mohan University, Balasore. The REEDS is a 15 yrs old Development Agency registered under SR Act. 1860, Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. 1976 and Under Section 12A & 80G of Income Tax Act. Working with different departments of Central & State Govt. along with International agencies like UNDP, DFID, TDH(Germany), USAID, REDCROSS etc.
In its long span of development projects, REEDS found serious crises in technically sound development experts to manage the projects at different level. Though there are few institutions providing Master of Social Work (MSW), the standard of knowledge is being undermined and become certificate oriented that is a serious threat for the development sector and the higher education. REEDS had shared this feelings with many development agencies of national and international repute and everybody suggested to start a new institution with different and qualitative flavor that took birth to OASIS at last. Some eminent high level bureaucrats, educationalists, development agencies and industrial & corporate houses joined hands with us to produce quality students to solve the crises in the sector.
OASIS plans to start with job oriented courses with minimum investment capacity that will be accessible for all category people of the society. In other hand the mushrooming higher education institutions in the state shows the significant development of human resources. Keeping in view to the degrading quality of higher education in the name of professionalism; OASIS strives to impart quality education at its end. The strong management background with vast experience ensures enrichment of the quality delivery with innovative ideas that guarantees the placement at better place & position in present Job market. Eminent personalities, intellectuals with different background have been associated with this college and strong rapport with Govt. departments, international agencies, industries & other sectors opens employment opportunities for the pass-outs.
OASIS got Recognisation from Govt. of Orissa and Affiliation from Utkal University of Culture in the year 2008-09 for conducting 2years regular post graduate degree course Master of Social Work (MSW) . OASIS also got approval from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore to run Master of Business Administration (MBA) in distance mode in the year 2009-10. Apart of these looking to the growing demand in job market, OASIS imparts 1 year PG Diploma courses like PG Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM), PG Diploma in NGO Management (PGDNM), PG Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM), PG Diploma in Finance & Office Management (PGDFOM).
Since past years OASIS has been able to provide sufficient academic atmosphere to its students for their all round development and the students have also proved it in different inter college competition. To give more exposure to its students in development and industrial field, OASIS has collaborated with North Orissa Chamber of Commerce & Industries (NOCCI) and is the potential member of Balasore Chamber of Industries & Commerce (BCIC), North Orissa Development Network, Voluntary Action Network India, INTRAC, CIVICUS, Common Wealth Foundation, Coordination SUD, ABONG and CONGAD.
